The stress and anxiety that comes with a home renovation can be overwhelming at times. Everything is heightened at the beginning where we often end up like a mosquito at a nudist colony with no clue where to start. Because we're a design + build firm we handle everything from design to build, and everything in between.
OUR AWARD-WINNING HOME RENOVATION PROCESS
We USE PERMITS
Over the years Level One has has been asked on numerous occasions to repair a job that was completed without a permit and forced to cease. These stories never end well, and the homeowners attempting to create a renovated home without a building permit end up spending much more money in the long run when they get caught building without one.
The bottom line: Some contractors will work without permits, so it’s important to review your contractor before you sign a contract. If your home is renovated without a permit and the work doesn’t meet the requirements of the Building Code, you most likely will have to redo it at your own cost. In a worst case scenario, you could be forced to un-renovate your home, which could include removing an entire addition. Working without a required permit may also affect a future insurance claim on your home.
