PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Careful and innovative detailing

A cramped, inefficient kitchen with no prep or storage space is transformed into a sleek, Euro-sized dream kitchen that maximizes real estate and brings fresh thinking to meal prep.

Smoked-mirror finish is multi-functional, adding style while concealing appliances for a seamless look that also gives the room a larger appearance.

Functionality and utility of floorplan

Adds vital storage and prep space without adding square footage. By eliminating “dead space” and relocating the appliances, the kitchen now boasts ample dish storage AND an in-kitchen pantry, while flowing AND functioning optimally.

A major project breakthrough involved knocking the obtrusive wall separating the kitchen/dining areas while ensuring the kitchen didn’t become the room’s focal point. Bridging the gap is the counter-top eating area, which also doubles as prep and entertaining space.

Special and unique design

A unique challenge involved customizing the space for the clients, who preferred a convection/microwave oven cooking solution, while still ensuring maximum appeal for future buyers. To accommodate, the design includes a warming drawer mounted under the range. For future owners preferring a full oven, the warming drawer can be swapped out for a 30-inch oven and relocated to the peninsula.

Efficient and creative use of space

A compact but highly functional space means that everything is within arm’s reach, making everyday tasks such as emptying the dishwasher a snap.

The project involved working with old and new elements, such as replacing parts of the bulkhead with fully-usable cabinets.

Other features include customized, off-the-shelf cabinetry, and a new pocket door.

Environmental considerations/features

The project features state-of-the-art, eco-friendly appliances, including an induction cook-top, dimmers, and low-flow faucet aerators.
